Not perfect all the time... but we still had fun.

We went to #1 Beach yesterday. The sign used to be in better condition. I wish the people would take better care of what they have.

You get dropped off at the road and walk down a long path to get to the beach.

Here are some shots of the beach and river and scenery.

There's a big pile of coconuts and a teepee made out of palm frawns. That came in handy later.

It was nice for the first half of our stay at the beach. Liz did mention that it was completely different: it was not a nice sloping beach into the river, the river was brown instead of clear, it was cold, and just different. It had rained early in the morning and the rain must have had something to do with all that. We did have a good time in the sand and the river.

The kids found bamboo and tried floating in the river.

Ben and David (Liz's brother) made a tee pee and the girls helped gather materials.

Here are some of our little friends. I'm so glad they all came with us.

Then it started to sprinkle, then rain, then it cleared up. We played a little long and then it started to rain, then pour and didn't stop. We gathered up all our wet stuff and made our way back up to the road. Little Xiomara took off her swimsuit to rinse it off and ran around naked for a while. She kept saying she was having a shower and the river was her bathtub. Silly girl. Some of my kids were not so happy about being soaking wet - which I thought was a little strange because we were just swimming in a cold river and they love to play in the rain. My cameras were packed up tight (sort of) so I don't have any wet pictures. I'll see if I can get some from one of my friends who had her waterproof camera out to capture some of the wet moments.
