Indian River

We finally went on a tour up the Indian River. It was very nice. We all got into a boat with a guide and he rowed up the river. No motors are allowed up river so it's a nice quite ride. This is the river that was used in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies 2 and 3, I think. We saw lots of fish in the water, crabs on the logs and heard birds in the trees. Our guide, Bazil, told us that it was named the Indian River because the indigenous people used to have settlements up river and they would come down the river to do some shopping, trading and then they'd go back up river to their settlement. As you travel farther inland the river will narrow so they have a liquor shack drop off for all the tourists. You can walk around a bit and we even saw a humming bird and a couple parrots. I was so happy about that because I haven't seen any yet! Then you take the boat back down river. I must tell you that the most amazing thing I saw was actually from our own boat - a couple with us have an 8 month old baby that is potty trained. The baby gave the sign that she needed to go potty so the mom held the baby over the side of the boat and the baby went #1. I've heard it could be done but I've never actually seen it. Wow! It was an amazing trip all the way around!
