So, our driver showed up last Friday (1/9) at 9:45 in the morning to start our tour of the island. Our main points of interest were the Carib Territory - a reservation for the original people of Dominica - and Emerald Pool. Little did we know our driver would show us so much more. It ended up being a 10-hour tour of the northern half of the island. Our driver, Rosie, stopped at every scenic view point he knew about and even took us to a couple lesser known beaches so that I could get some pictures. He pointed out some spots where they filmed Pirates of the Caribbean, too. We decided we would not make it home for dinner so we stopped at a place to try the lobster. Unfortunately, they didn't have any lobster, or steak, or lamb. Our choices were fish or chicken or sandwiches. We opted for sandwiches, and fish and pasta for the kids. There was a full moon for the drive home and I realized that I hadn't been in a car at night for a very long time. It was kind of weird.
So, on our tour we saw brown sand and black sand. We saw a couple parrots eating in a tree. We saw the Atlantic Ocean - even played in it a bit. We saw the Carib people at their stands of hand made crafts (although some of them weren't so hand made). Their ability to weave is amazing and Kevin says I should hire one of the ladies to come to my home for a day of weaving lessons. We saw a waterfall, a sail boat at sunset, and a fat german shepard dog at dinner. It really was a great day! I hope you enjoy the pictures.
