If only I unerstood how it works...

Maybe then I could make it work again. My printer, that we just got replaced in February (after nine months of waiting for it to get fixed), is not printing anymore. I got two test pages out of it recently but that's it - and I'm not really sure how those two pages came to be. I mean, I did send a command from the computer telling it to print a test page but I don't remember the printer actually do anything, but when I looked there were two test pages. Anyway, it is really annoying having a printer that I can't print to. There have been several Joy School things I wanted to print but couldn't because they just aren't talking to each other. Now I'm trying to add a network printer and it says none are found. Well, it's on, connected and the internet is working so the router is working. Why isn't the printer? I guess I didn't learn enough when I was working for HP technical support. Then again, I worked on the deskjet 500 series so this is way out of my expertise anyway.

Oh, wait - I had the computer search for the printer again and it found it. Now we are moving along. Now Windows is communicating with the printer and will automatically determine what driver to use. I'm hoping that replacing or updating the driver will help it to communicate and then maybe I will be back in business.

Wow! It just asked if I wanted to use the driver already installed or replace the driver. I probably should have used what was already installed but I was thinking maybe it wasn't working. So it has now been replaced and the printer is printing a test page! Oh, how exciting is that?! It has been fun to share this in real time with you! I'm going to print a story from Joy School just to see if it really will print! I'm pretty sure it will but it's worth a try.

Super! This started off as a sad post because I couldn't print and now it's ending up as a happy post because I solved the problem and it printed the story I sent it! HURRAY! Maybe I know more than I give myself credit for. All is well with my little world again - except for the stinking ants... but I won't go there!
