So, after two days of killing ants on my kitchen counter, the last straw was finding a mass of them under the tray for my dish drainer thingy, I decided I had to do something and spraying Baygon was not a good option because I'm tired of killing my family along with the ants. I do wonder about these little creatures - It rains here... why do they need to come into my kitchen to find water? Anyway, I decided to make some of my own poison. I put 1/2 cup of sugar, 3/4 cup of water, and a 1/2 tablespoon of corn starch in a pan and boiled it. I didn't let it thicken up very much. I'm hoping the corn starch will keep it from evaporating too quickly. Then I added 1 tablespoon or boric acid powder that I found in the cupboards and can be purchased at James' store (I think, Zap A Roach in a yellow bottle with a red cone top). I mixed that all together and put it in an old syrup bottle (thank you to who ever left it at the house on Sunday). I administered it to the ants outside my front door and they seemed to love it instantly. They go a little crazy at first and get a little disorganized but then they all start eating and they take it to the nest and then the ants are gone for a little while. New colonies find the old nests and move in (I'm guessing on that one) but at least I get them out of my house for a little while. Just thought I'd share the recipe so that others of you might be able to get rid of these creatures that probably don't really hurt us but we just don't like have them share our living space.

hi girl!
I changed my blog template to minima stretch- I love it pic wise- but HATE it for background so I think that I will go back and forth... :) also we will for sure have to do a river trip!
first of all- I'm sick of commenting on your ant recipe post- I want a beautiful children post ASAP!
second- I always have used Picasa for my editing- the fun news is it does collages too- then I just upload to web albums (what I do anyways to post) and take from there. :) so easy and fun because sometimes I want to put like 10 pics- but they are too similar to put- the collage fixes this prob!
