Red Rocks

So I'm finally getting around to posting about our trip that we took on the 26th of August. We were invited to go to Red Rocks with a group of people, and lots of kids. Kevin decided not to go but I wanted to see this new place. It was a bit of a drive but just when you think you can't take any more, you're there. At least, that's how it felt for me. My kids were excited to play in the Atlantic Ocean instead of the Caribbean Sea. The waves are a bit bigger so they had to be extra careful. The sand was more granular so it felt a little different. We took our lunch and just had a very nice time. Eventually curiosity got the best of me so we went for a walk on the beach. It went around to another nice area with a stream. Then I wanted to see what was on the other side of the rock wall so we climbed it. Yes, me and my four girls climbed up the bluff just so I could see what was on the other side. It was actually pretty easy to climb up, even though I had Kemiah in my arm. We got up and I took some pictures and then felt a little foolish for bringing my small children up there. One poor step or slip and ... I don't want to think about it. The view was very nice but the getting down was a bit tricky. We made it and were very happy to put our hot feet back in the cool water. I found some little shells so that was fun, and I was able to gather some sand for my collection. It was a great trip - I didn't have to plan or coordinate anything!

Here's Xiomara getting knocked by a wave.

She survived and the pull of the wave brought her onto shore.

Emily loves to bury herself in the sand. Kemiah enjoyed playing along.

I love the color variation in the water....

and the sand.

This is the walk we went on to see what we could see.

This is where we were headed on our walk. I wanted to see if there was a "secret beach" on the other side.

This was the path that lay before us.

This is the view of where we came from and had to get back to so we could join the others.

This is the view of the other side. No secret beach, just rocks and waves.

Here are my brave climbing buddies.

This is the wonderful beach and shade we enjoyed.
I thought I'd play with black and white...

Here it is in color. Which do you like better?

I don't think you can see the little hermit crab she is holding on her ring finger. She was so excited.

what fun! we will have to go there for sure :) I like the black and white- but it's nice to see the color too- the pic of Marissa makes her look grown up--- sad :( I love the wave shots and Emily enjoying the new sand- did she notice a difference in her sand ball making?
