Kevin took the three oldest kids to ESL class (English as a Second Language) last night at the Church. So I was left with the two youngest kids. We walked with the others down the road for a bit and then walked home. It was early enough that we just sat in the driveway, watching the clouds change colors and the swifts fly through the air. The girls had a good time playing together and laughing at each other. After a little while we went in to start our routine. We got out the Joy in the Journey Journal, the Children's Songbook, the Hymn book and the large print Book of Mormon. We sat down on the couch and had a fan blowing on us. I think we only did our joy and not what we were grateful for (oops!) and then we moved on to the singing. Xiomara picked some songs that she knows well and she did a great job singing. She tried really hard to set a good example for Kemiah, and anyone else who might be watching. (I think she was pretending there were other people there.) After a few Primary songs, I moved on to the Hymn book. I turned to the one we are working on, I Know That My Redeemer Lives, and asked, "Will you sing this one with me?" My small, three year old little blond haired blue eyed girl, with her arms folded, looked at me sort of sideways and said, "Probably not. I don't know that one well." Okay then. What do you say to that? I sang it alone and she looked at me as if to say, "I told you I don't know that one so I'm not singing." After one verse we moved on to the scriptures. She did her part and then sat down and listened while I read 20 verses. Then we put things away and had family prayer. Then it was showers, jammies, personal prayers, and bed. It was a nice time with my two littlest babies.
You might wonder what Kemiah was doing the whole time. She was sitting next to me with my arms around her helping her fold her arms. She is mostly okay with that but would squirm a little every so often. Other than that, she was just happy to be invloved.

It is nice to have alone time with a few kids or just one sometimes. I love it! I love your nightly routine. What all does that entail? Would you email it to me? I'd love to get something like that started. It sounds awesome! Thanks for the idea!
