So, I recall mentioning my dislike of the ants in my house. Today I found a bit of the "mother load" in my kitchen. I was at the sink and looked at a baby food jar that has dirt and a dead weed in it. Ben pulled the weed up at our old house and because it had roots he wanted to plant it. We brought it to this house and I kept it alive until just the other day when I noticed it was dead. For some reason I just left it there. Well, it is not there anymore. I picked it up today and that's when I saw the dirt move. There was a layer of black ants wiggling around. Luckily I hadn't disturbed them when I picked up the jar. My first inclination was to turn on the sink water and wash them down the drain. Kevin said we didn't want the dirt to clog the sink so he carefully took the jar from me, and I handed him a can of bug spray. He took them both outside and as he set the jar down it rattled the ants and they went crazy. He said they had baby ants in there! Good
grief! So, no more growing projects in my house.

Here's the only picture I have of the jar in my window. To learn more about the fruit on the counter you'll have to go to an older post back in Feb, Island Variety. Just thought it would be more interesting with a picture...
