We had a very nice day on the 25th of January. Our little monkey… I mean Xiomara turned 3 years old! She loves to put up three fingers instead of just two. Normally we have Church at 9 and because it takes us about 35 minutes to get to the building we have to leave early and so breakfast is cold cereal. Well, this Sunday we had an Area Conference broadcast so it was at 10:00 and we were watching it at our house so we didn’t have to travel anywhere so we were able to have our new traditional chocolate chip pancakes for her birthday breakfast. We all enjoyed them! Unfortunately the internet wasn’t working so we had to go to another location just down the road from our house for the broadcast but we were just glad it all worked out. We came home to have scrambled eggs for lunch – Xiomara ate the most and finished off what was left in the pan. I was glad she liked them. We decided to do cake and presents between lunch and dinner because Kevin had appointments after dinner. I made a two layer round yellow cake. The bottom layer had chocolate chips in it and was frosted with homemade chocolate frosting. Then I put some cherry pie filling and topped it with the other layer of cake that had red swirls in it (that you couldn’t really see). I frosted the top with white store bought frosting and then put cherries on top. It turned out fine but I didn’t like the white frosting so we won’t do that again. She opened her first present which was some board books and she willing said, “This is for Ben and Emily and Marissa.” Then her second present was more books and she said, “These are mine.” Her third gift was a kite so now all the older kids have kites to fly so as soon as we go I’ll do a new kite flying post. The kids really enjoyed reading the new books and hopefully Xiomara will start to learn her letters – three of her books were specifically about letters. For dinner we had “My favorite pasta salad.” That’s what the kids call it now. I thought she would really like it but she didn’t eat very much. Maybe because she had so many eggs and cake before dinner. Oh well. We made sure to sing “Happy Birthday” to her several times throughout the day. It was nice but I still can’t believe she is 3 – oh how the time passes by so quickly.
Now for a look back... here she is a brand new baby.

Wow how she has grown. We sure do love her!
