Some critters are small...

I will be the first to admit that our yard is invested with ants (many varieties). Luckily we are able to do a fair job of keeping them out of the house so I'm okay as long as they stay outside. There is a particular wall that they enjoy climbing up and I believe they have a nest in the roof. Today I noticed that some of them were working on taking a dead bug up to their roof top dwelling. It was an interesting looking bug so I thought I'd take a picture. I also saw an opportunistic spider trying to take their loot from them. Silly spider - or is it smart?

I found this little guy in our house completely covered with ants. I'm sure it was not doing well so the ants were ready to take him to their nest but it was still fighting a bit. I decided to help it out. I stirred the ants so they started to scatter so I started to step on them. I cleaned up the mess I made and then tried to help the little gecko. It was all for not. It died, but at least it wasn't being bitten while it died.

Some critters are not small. I hear the hawks all the time and sometimes I feel a strong pull to go out and watch them fly around. It's almost like watching the jets back in Alaska. It was just really neat to see it sitting up in a tree and it actually looked my way (hence the picture).

It took off while I was watching.

(That's not actually the same hawk but they all look the same so we'll pretend.)
