Friday Night Movie, Again

I decided we hadn't had a social at our house for a while so why not have a movie. The university is showing 2 kids movies this semester - Madagascar 2 (which we went to) and Bolt (coming next week, and maybe we'll go). My kids really do enjoy movies - probably because we don't watch them very often. We don't even do the Sunday Living Scriptures anymore because we brought our projector and I just don't want to set it up and we certainly can't leave it set up all the time. (I need my tables!) So I emailed some people an invitation and one of my friends was ready to make a chocolate cake so we were set with food, friends and fun! What could be better? It was great! I actually didn't watch the movie, Curious George, because I was busy talking and listening to everyone. We had cake (so yummy), popcorn (haven't had that in 6+ months, well the good stuff anyway), and I even had some muffins for people to eat. My kids ate lots of muffins and Kemiah loved the popcorn (I don't think I got a picture of her face and hands in the bowl but it was pretty cute!) so we all had a great time. I think it was a nice break for some of the students. Kevin stayed long enough for a piece of cake and then he was off to study.

I have decided that these moments are what life is made up of and you just have to make them happen. So often I find myself so wrapped up in my own little world that I sometimes can't focus on what's outside. I don't know if entertaining is all that important but I think it needs a little spot somewhere in life. It doesn't have to be big or overdone. A small gathering of friends to talk and share life with each other can make all the difference in the world - no matter where in the world you live.

Thanks for always hosting! I was thinking today about how much I'm going to miss the gatherings at the Roy household! I love the last sentence of your post--and it's never rung quite so true to me as it has in Dominica. :)
