Happy Birthday Ben!

So I'm a few days late... We enjoyed the whole day - March 5th - in celebration of Benjamin turning 7! Wow! He's so grown up and yet he's still my little boy. He amazes me with the things he says sometimes and can really tell a story when he wants to. He reads and adds and even started multiplication and division! He's always wanting to do something with someone (anyone but mostly Marissa). He loves inventing: stories, games, things to use, etc. He is helpful, loving, kind, hard working and desires to do what is right. I love our boy!

To celebrate his birthday we had chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, and he opened his cards from both sets of grandparents. (We were lucky to receive them both the day before in the mail!)
We packed up lunch and headed to the pool to hang out with some friends. We didn't care that it was a bit cloudy, rainy and breezy. We had a good time.
When we got home I went right to work on dinner - pasta salad and cinnamon rolls. (I had that growing up so it's not weird to me.) It was my first time making cinnamon rolls so I was a bit nervous about how they would turn out - especially since I made the dough before we left for the pool (even before breakfast) and then put it in the fridge while we were gone. It all ended up just fine and I learned some things for the next time. Dinner was a smashing hit and we had lots of salad left over because the kids didn't have their normal seconds or thirds because of the cinnamon rolls. They smelled great and tasted pretty good, too.
Ben picked out a funfetti brownie mix for his cake and luckily (with prayers going to Heavenly Father) they tasted great. I thought I had over baked them and asked for some help so they would taste good. Well, they were delicious! (Thank you, Heavenly Father.) Ben then opened his presents and was excited about all of them. He had a great day and so did the rest of us! We are so glad he's part of our family! He's a great big brother, and awesome son, and a wonderful friend! Thanks, BENJAMIN!

Poor Xiomara fell asleep while waiting for the festivities to begin so she missed the presents and the brownies. Luckily there were enough for her to have some with lunch the next day.

I'm so sad we couldn't make it :( But I'm still making that cake for everyone once we get back to a normal routine

So grown up he looks! I like the short hair cut, it looks fitting with his tan. Happy Birthday Ben, We knew you when you were born! It has been fun watching you grow up and become such a great kid!
