No really.

Did you know that when you are told to fly a kite in a large clear field, without trees, electrical poles and wires or buildings, you should really do it. I really want to get our kites up in the air, all 4 of them, but I don't want to walk all the way to our old house where the closest big empty field is located. I decided today, with all the wind we have right here by our house, maybe we could fly the kites in our neighbors back lot. It's clear of lines but the house is right there and there is a big tree. I decided if we didn't let out a lot of line then we'd be okay. Well, I let out a little bit more line to get it up high enough to stay in the wind and, sure enough, it got too close to the house and the string got caught on the gutter. Oops. I really thought I had lost Emily's kite - and it's the best flier! Luckily, I was able to have Xiomara hold the line when the wind stopped and the kite came down. So I grabbed the kite and had to break the string but at least I got the kite back. I guess we'll have to make the trip to the open field, past Tina's grocery store, to keep our kites safe. The really good field is all the way down in Portsmouth, by the Church, but that's a really long walk just to fly kites, and my kids really don't enjoy it that much. Then again, maybe they just get bored watching mom try to get the kites in the air and find other things to do. So maybe, if the wind was strong and they could actually get their kites up, then they would enjoy it.
