For the first time ever, in our 10+ years of marriage, Kevin and I hosted a game night at our house with lots of other people. No, it was not my idea - Natalynn called and invited us and I said we should do it at our house so I wouldn't have to worry about the kids getting home late. So I made brownies and lots of people showed up and we played cops and mofia (although it was called something else). This is how it went with our group: a moderator that tells you what to do and what happens, 3 mofia, 1 cop and the rest towns people. Everyone sleeps, mofia kill someone (by pointing a finger very quietly as to not awaken a neighbor), then they go back to sleep. Then the cop wakes up and points at someone to see if they are mofia (they are informed by the moderator who never sleeps), then they go to sleep. Then everyone wakes up, except for the dead person and then the town kills someone they think might be mofia. And so the game continues until there are more mofia then towns people or the mofia are all dead. Anyway, it was lots of fun. We also played a game called Signs. You pick a sign, like pulling on your ear or rubbing your knee or whatever. Then someone stands in the middle and you have to pass the sign around until the person in the middle figures out and catches the person who has "it". Does that make any sense at all? It did when we were playing, although I wasn't very good at it. Anyway, we'll be doing that sort of thing again - hosting game night at our house. I told Natalynn (and anyone else who wants to) she could plan it and I would host it. Such a deal.
What I think is really funny is what Kevin told me Tuesday night (the night after we hosted the game night) when he got home. He had been waiting outside a lab room with 4 other people and they decided they could play mofia. So, one person was the moderator, one was mofia, one was the cop, and two were towns people. He said it took longer to explain how to do it than it did to play the game. I could just picture 5 people standing outside a building, four with their heads down and eyes closed, then the mofia waking to kill, the cop waking to inquire, and then the whole group waking to find out who was dead and ready to kill someone. I think Kevin said the towns people won! Strange little game. It was much better when he told the story... In fact, everything in this post was much better in real life but I thought I'd share it anyway, just so you would know we are having fun all the time!
