Douglas Bay (finally)

We joined the Ross Spouses Organization (RSO) for our Thursday Activity last week - or did they join us? They were headed to Douglas Bay. It's the bay that we have seen from vantage point while hiking on Cabrits and it is on the other side of Cabrits from where we live. I've wanted to go there so we went with them. It was a short drive so that was nice and there was sand, along with a lot of rocks. Everyone was there to go snorkeling and my kids were not going to miss out. Even little Xiomara was ready to go with her goggles. Kemiah was the only issue and she wasn't very interested to come out and play in the salt water. I headed back to shore with her and one of the ladies came back saying she'd stay with Kemiah because she was having issues with her ears. (Thanks Sarah!) I was off to see what I could see. The water was amazingly clear. I could see fish up at the shore while I was putting on my fins. I caught up to my kids and we enjoyed swimming around looking at the fish and other living stuff. A friend with a car showed up so we were able to hang around a bit longer than the RSO so it was a good thing I packed some sandwiches. We ate lunch in the shade of an almond tree - which we learned from some locals who showed up. It was a fun day and we may have to go again with our other friends.

Xiomara headed out to see what she can see.

Look at her kick! What a great little swimmer. Unfortunately she didn't like the goggles leaking so she didn't stay out very long. Oh well, she played with Kemiah on the beach.

Ben and Emily going out... Emily still has issues putting her face in the water so she didn't want goggles. She just wanted to swim. I did get her to take a turn with the mask and snorkel so she got to see some stuff.

My five little kids playing on the beach.

Kemiah scratching in the sand. She was in just the right spot to get the waves rolling in behind her but it wouldn't knock her over.

The view to the northern part of the bay.

The view to the south of the bay... That is Cabrits National Park.

These are the almonds. You can eat the outer skin and then you have to crack the shell to get the nut inside. Ben ate some of the flesh but it's sort of strange so he didn't eat all of it. I still have one that I want to try and crack and see the almond so maybe I'll post that later.

So I thought I'd throw this one in just for giggles. This is me, at the beach and with my new hair growing in. I always wear my hair in a ponytail but I probably need a hair cut. The bangs are new hairs that are growing in. I have all different lengths because the hair continues to fall out and thankful it continues to grow back!
