It's my own fault really. I knew what I should have done but I didn't do it and I certainly paid for it.
I wanted to get the older kids school done before we had Joy School with the younger kids. I went into the playroom and shut the door. I did not put Kemiah in her crib (but should have) so she and Xiomara were left to roam the house. I thought maybe they'd play with the few toys they had or read books. After maybe 20 minutes I sent Ben out to get my scriptures. When he came back I asked him if he had seen the younger girls. He said he hadn't. I sent Marissa out to make sure my bedroom door was shut. She came back saying the girls were in big bad trouble and salt was everywhere. I jumped up and knew Kemiah had gotten into the sugar container. I had no idea how bad it would be. She had taken the container down and pulled sugar out onto the floor. It was in the kitchen, the front entry, down the hall and in my bedroom. She was coated with sugar and when I found her she just smiled at me. What a sweet baby! NOT! I know, don't go over board... it's my fault I left her to roam the house unattended.
I cleaned up the baby and put her in her bed where she will go whenever we have school. I then tried to clean up the sugar. Here I am trying my hardest to keep the ants out and my littlest sweethearts invite them in. I swept and swept and swept some more. I finally thought I had it all, dumped it in the kitchen trashcan and then went back to look. There were ants all over the back entry area, my bedroom and the hallway. Then they were in the front entry area as well. I decided the only thing to do was mop! Joy School was supposed to start soon! Oh bother.
I got the bucket of water and the mop and did a very wet job of mopping, hoping the water would help keep the ants away for a time. I then took my spray bottle of water and bleach mixture and sprayed the windows and walls in my room and the dining room, as well as the floor by the entry doors in hopes that it will help keep them away! It seems to be working. Just as I was finishing up my friend called and said she was on her way for Joy School. Perfect timing because I was done cleaning the mess. It only took an hour and I learned a big lesson - that I really didn't need to learn but obviously I will never forget.
Kemiah fell asleep in her crib, Xiomara went to Joy School, and I finished the older kids school lesson while Paige was teaching Joy School. It all worked out in the end. Now I just need to hang up the towels I washed and we'll be set for a great afternoon!

Oh Kemiah.
Don't you hate when you know you should do something (or at least have the thought that you should) and don't and then it comes back to haunt you? I'm glad the morning still worked out though and I hope you had a great afternoon!
I want a picture of a sugar coated sweetheart-- no pune intended-- but I am sorry- I hate "those days"
what's joy school?
You should have just let the ants finish up. Think of them as a thousand tiny Roombas.
