A first for me... and hopefully the last.

I have thought about it many times and just wondered when it would happen. After I put the kids to bed I will turn out all the lights and go to my bedroom to do my nightly stuff and then go unlock the door when my honey comes home. Two nights ago I was walking down the hallway that was not lighted and stepped on something that went "crunch" but didn't stick to my foot. It didn't bite me so it wasn't a centipede. I later turned on the light to see what it was and only found a small gecko. He moved when I touched his tail so I apologized and hoped he would be okay but was pretty sure it was him that I stepped on. Sure enough, I found him dead in the same spot the next morning. That wasn't my favorite thing at all. Sorry little guy. Maybe I'll leave a light on so I can avoid those things in the future.
