Close-up look at our handy work

So, I decided to post these just so you could see the individual look of each basket. I know, it's been a while but oh well. I did work on a lid last night so it is almost done but I think it's a little too big because I didn't pull in the sides well enough. I figure it's done so that's better than nothing. Maybe by the third one I'll be better at it and then I'll probably have the itch to make another one, just because I can. It still amazes me, when I look at them, that my little kids were so determined to do it, and they did.

This is Ben's basket, with completed lid. You can see he has 4 different colors. The gray is the other side of the black and the lighter brown is the other side of the darker brown. He was the only one who used all those options and I think he came up with it on his own. The pattern was his idea as well.

This one is Marissa's. She had to use two strands at one time to get the alternating look. I'm sure it was Quinn's idea to have her try this and she did it just fine. I think the lid I worked on last night will fit her basket, but probably not very tightly.

This is Emily's basket and she came up with the pattern on her own. I like the big band of black in the middle.

This is the basket Quinn made for Xiomara, who was outside with us the whole time trying to use the knives and scissors to work on the reeds. Xiomara kept asking Quinn, "What's your name?"

This is my basket. Quinn suggested I try three reeds at once so that's why I have one black stripe and two brown stripes. I did not start a lid but maybe that's what I'll do when all the other lids are completed. I have them all sitting on my clutter counter because I'm afraid of them getting destroyed if I leave them in the kids charge, and my basket has my small shell and seed and rock collection that will be going home with us as well.

those are cool- we should do that for a "homemaking-relief society meeting" what a fun thing to take home. :)
