And we are still having fun. Today we went to the beach near campus so that we could look for sand dollars. Some one told us that there were lots to be found on the left side of the pier. We don't normally snorkel there because all the nice rock reefs are on the right side of the pier. We showed up at the beach with one of our friends and the water was a bit rougher than normal, which meant the water would probably be a bit murky - not the best for snorkeling. We set up at a table and got sunscreen on everyone and we were ready for some sand. I grabbed Kemiah's round floaty and her arm floaties and her goggles because I take her with me when I snorkel. She actually likes to float in the baby floaty and the arm floaties are just in case she leans too far and falls out. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of her in the get up - sorry. I went out to see what I could see and at first it wasn't much and I was actually a bit scared. I freak myself out if the visibility is bad. I kept going and as I got out farther the visibility improved and the sun started to shine so I could see all the way to the bottom. I got excited and then started to see the item I was seeking - sand dollars! I had heard they are hard to get up because they break easily so I was ready to be careful. I dove down and got the first one with out much trouble. Then I didn't know that to do with it but wanted to dive for another one so I went down again - and again and again. I ended up getting 7 complete sand dollars and 3 that had chips in them. I broke one in half and lost one of the pieces but was happy with what I brought back! It hurt my ears a bit and for a few hours after I was afraid I had done permanent damage but they are fine now, Now the issue will be trying to pack them home without breaking in the move. So I can now cross off "collect my own sand dollars from the sea floor" my things to do before we leave. I only have about 10 more weeks so I really need to figure out what I want to do and get it done so I can leave without any regrets. Is that really possible? I'll try.
After the beach, we headed to the pool to clean up and have lunch. Emily surprised me by jumping in from the edge of the pool without any floaties and swam to the stairs. She struggles with putting her face in the water so I was very impressed with her new activity. And she kept doing it so it wasn't just an accident or fluke. We had some friends join us while we were there so that added to the fun day.
As we left the pool I bought some trail mix type stuff out of the vending machine so the kids could share a snack on the way home and they really enjoyed that. It's the simple things that they really enjoy but maybe it's also that it was a treat because I normally don't do that sort of thing. I told the kids how much I appreciated such a nice day with them. It was a good day!

So much fun! I'm very jealous of all the time you have had to spend on the beach!
