A kids movie... sort of

The school played the new Disney/Pixar movie, UP, in a small classroom on Friday. I found out from a friend Friday morning but had never heard about the movie (go figure) so I had to do some research. It is a cartoon rated PG for some peril and action. I didn't think much of it and so I decided to take the kids. I made the regular movie night dinner - pasta salad - but I didn't have any miracle whip so I used mayo and added some Italian salad dressing for flavor. Unfortunately, it was too oily tasting so no one really liked it. Won't do that again. We made it to campus early to eat dinner, watch the sunset and then got good seats to watch the show. It was a little disappointing because we were in a small classroom with only one screen, so I'm glad I only had to pay for the adults ($5 EC, which is about $1.87 USD for one adult). I decided to splurge and got some ice cream, so that was a nice treat as well. I liked the movie but my poor kids are very sensitive and were not very happy with the peril part of the movie. Both Ben and Marissa said pretty loudly that they didn't like the movie, while the movie was playing. I know the three oldest were almost crying at some points (not sure what Xiomara was doing) so I guess we need to stick to the less action packed movies for a while. We enjoyed the walk home, talking about the funny parts of the movie.

The classroom they usually show movies in is much larger and has a huge screen in front and lots of other screens all over the room so that is quite an experience. Lots of people from Church went to the movie so we saw lots of friends there.
