Inside pictures of our house

Here are some pictures of the inside of our house. All my island friends will find this post boring but my family back home wanted to get a better idea of how we are living, since they still picture us living in a little hut. I think they'll be a bit surprised.

Looking at the dining room from the kitchen. We have two sets of double doors right next to each other that lead to the back patio. They are usually open to allow any breeze to blow through the house.

Looking at the front door from the kitchen. Lots of open space in this area.

Looking at the other double door in the dining room from the front door. You can see the two steps up to the living room.

From the front door looking at the double doors, kitchen and hallway.

From dining room to living room.

From the steps into part of the living room.

Here's the rest of the living room, with the doorway to the master bedroom, which we use as a playroom/school room, on the left side.

Living room from the bookcase.

Playroom/school room from the doorway.

The other side of the same room, set up for when people were going to stay with us at the beginning of the semester. Both beds are now out, and this is the corner where the toys go.

Same room from the maps, looking at the closet and down hallway. You can see the open hallway closet and entry to bathroom.

From living room looking down the long house. You see through the dining room, kitchen, and laundry room. The kids love to run up and down the long hallway to the left of the kitchen. They will also ride the little carts that we have up and down the hallway. Noisy but fun.

Here's the galley kitchen.

The closets and bathroom in the hallway. For some reason, we have never been able to find the light switch for the bathroom so we don't use it very much at night.

This is the space between the kitchen, to the right, and the laundry room, to the left. The table is a work space where I make bread and tortillas. The kids can do their worksheets there and write in their journal at night. This outside door leads to the back patio but we never open it.

Looking from the bedrooms to the laundry room, hallway and outside door that leads to the carport. We had the gates made to keep Kemiah inside. Now she knows how to open them but at least she usually puts her shoes on before she leaves the house.

From the laundry room to the bedroom doors.

Kids bedroom. We now have one bed set up and the two oldest kids are still sleeping on their mats. The crib is moved to the side of the picture.

From the kids room, looking at the bathroom and our bedroom.

The main bathroom that we use - no tub.

Our bedroom.

The closet that Kevin and I share. Good thing we don't have very many clothes.

Here's a picture of the master bedroom bathroom. It has a tub but the spout doesn't work so you can only take showers. The table is for changing diapers.

So that's my house. It has been nice for having large groups over and we have enjoyed all the space. If you want to see the outside, you'll have to go to an old post (probably in January) with a slide show of pictures.

I think it's fun to have this forever to look back at- you can say "oh Kemiah ran into that column remember"- oh and PS I know that we said that we wanted your house- but Jason and I talked about it and we are going to stay in the one we are at- it's just so cheap you know- it makes me sad though because I've been picturing my future island life there- oh well- there are so many new families that someone with a ton of kids will move in and want it :)- but I thought you should know that I release you from our dibbs contract!
