Getting your goat.

We can now touch the baby goats that were born in October. And the kids really enjoy trying to catch them. The second batch are much healthier and faster, more agile and harder to catch. The first batch lost one so there is just one little black goat that is sort of runty, and much easier to catch. Once caught, the kids carry it around or sit and hold it in their lap. Kemiah likes to watch them but isn't very interested in petting them. Xiomara likes the thought of petting them - everyone else is doing it - but once she gets close she still has something holding her back. She is getting better but would still prefer it if there is a good distance between her and the goats - baby or momma. And the gray babies aren't safe just because they are fast. The kids still try as hard as they can to catch them but the goats run, jump and scramble faster than the kids so they aren't caught very often. And when they are caught, black or gray, they make quite a bit of noise calling for their mom. The mom will call for the baby as well but she can't really do anything because she is tied up but it is a little noisy. It's just fun to watch my kids run around and chase these little critters. There's no way they could have done that with a baby moose in Alaska.

And Emily was there, but for some reason I didn't get her in any of the shots. She must have been doing something other than pestering the goats.

And if you can't get a goat there is always the treasures to hunt for in the empty lots. Ben gave up and found an old radio alarm clock. He brought it to me and was so excited. He talked about how neat it would be if the buttons were all there and then he could hook it up and get it to work. That would be so great. I was more concerned about the green stuff that was on top, wondering if it was goat poop. Yuck.
