In America you have neighbors. Now a days they are building right on top of each other so you hardly have any room to your self. Well, we have the same thing here. I didn't think it would be an issue because I've seen it before. I now understand that you must be tolerant and love your neighbors. Due to the climate here (It's hot and humid, just in case I haven't mentioned it before.) we leave our windows open 24/7 so that maybe the slightest breeze will help cool off the house. With our neighbors right outside our windows we hear everything - even though we may not understand what they are saying. (And sometimes I'm a little worried that they might hear everything I say.) It has been interesting to watch laundry dry, hair get braided, friends come and go but the strangest part is that they are comfortable walking about wrapped up in a towel.
Along with neighbors right out our front door, we have goats that make really funny noises, chickens that are relatively quiet compared to the roosters that start crowing at 3 or 4 in the morning and keep right on crowing all morning. And the cows that are just here, there, and almost everywhere - but I think I already mentioned them. At least no one has parked one in our yard to graze.
Speaking of grazing... Our neighbor has goats, and both his pregnant ones had babies near our home. One had her babies outside our bedroom window at 5 in the morning and the other one was a little more discreet because she had them in a bushel of lemon grass. Anyway, the babies are so darn cute! Curvin, our neighbor, had one of the mommas tied up in our backyard so the babies slept right next to the house. The kids would have been carrying them around and petting them but we aren't supposed to touch them until they are a month old. It has been a little tempting but we have controlled ourselves and maybe we can pet them now that November is here (the first set were born at the beginning of Oct).
