Water or Electricity?

I have yet to decide which is worse - losing water or losing electricity.
If I have no water then:
  • I can't wash my hands after changing a diaper.
  • No one can shower before bed so you have to go to bed sweaty gross.
  • Doing dishes is a little tough.
  • Hopefully you don't need to do laundry.
  • Can't flush the toilets either and with four kids and two adults using them ....

Without electricity:

  • I can't blog or check emails (that has become a daily necessity for me).
  • Lights don't turn on (but I do have flashlights and a lantern).
  • No A/C! Yikes!
  • Can't run the fans for extra breeze.
  • Shouldn't open the fridge/freezer so it can stay cold.
  • No hot water in the shower.

I guess it's a draw. Either way, when one doesn't work it's an inconvience. Unfortunately it is a known fact that we lose power and water so I just need to learn to do deal with it. Like collect rain water from the roof so that I have some extra water to flush the toilets or rinse the dishes when I don't have water.

They were doing work on the water system yesterday and shut off the water at lunch time. It wasn't back on until after the kids were in bed. Kevin and I got to take a shower but the kids didn't. Last night it rained and rained so I now have dirty water. Luckily I got one load of laundry done before the water got dirty. Oh the thrills of living on a tropical island!

Yes, I do think that we need to chat. I guess that there is a ton we are missing. Where are you living?
